A low-growing, shade-tolerant native sage with rosettes of deeply lobed, often purple-marked leaves and spikes of violet-blue flowers in spring. Works well as a groundcover and is often semi-evergreen in mild winters. Self-seeds gently to fill in shady spots. Native bees and small pollinators visit the tubular flowers.
